Call for Reviewers
August 19, 2026Hi everyone!
We are seeking graduate students, senior undergrads, postdocs, and faculty to review submissions for the 2nd edition of the UBC Computer Science Student Research Conference (CSSRC), happening Friday, November 6th in the Atrium.
We have two submission tracks you can review for: 4-page double-column papers, and 1-page extended abstracts + posters.
We will have a ~2-week review period. This year, we are implementing a voting mechanism where reviewers will be able to preview title + abstract registrations and vote ahead for their preferred submissions to review.
- Voting period: September 19th–24th
- Reviewing period: September 26th–October 8th
- Tracks: short papers or posters
- Time commitment: ~2 hours total
- Duties: evaluate submissions using a provided rubric for clarity, originality, methods, and impact; provide concise constructive comments; declare conflicts
- Benefits: acknowledgement in the program and a participation certificate on request
For any questions, please reach out to csgsa@cs.ubc.ca and/or conference@ubccsss.org.
Best regards,
Vivian White

Call for Submissions
August 17, 2026Hi everyone!
We are super excited to announce the call for submissions for the 2nd edition of the UBC Computer Science Student Research Conference (CSSRC), happening Friday, November 6th in the Atrium.
We invite all students to submit their work, including ongoing, early-stage, course-based, or exploratory research. If you know anyone in the department who may be interested in participating, please encourage them to submit!
Submission Portal: https://hotcrp-cssrc.cs.ubc.ca/*
* To ensure security, the portal is only accessible within the UBC Network. If you are
on campus, connect to ubcsecure. Otherwise, connect to the UBC CS VPN — guide
available here.
Submission Tracks
- Short Paper + Oral Presentation: 4-page paper following the ACM template — to be included in the archival CSSRC 2026.2 Booklet (CSGSA website).
- Poster + Poster Presentation: 1-page abstract + 36"x48" poster (vertical/portrait orientation) — example template available.
Timeline
- September 18: Registration Deadline (title + abstract submission, max 250 words)
- September 25: Full Paper or Poster Submission Deadline
- October 9: Notifications sent out
- October 23: Camera-Ready Deadline (for accepted works)
- November 6: Conference Day!
Concurrent Submissions and Archival Concerns
We want this conference to be inclusive of ongoing work. If you are concerned about double-blind requirements or exclusivity rules of other conferences (such as ICLR), we can handle these on a case-by-case basis (e.g. opting out of public PDF distribution or archiving). Please do not let this deter you from submitting!
Questions? We have set up a Discord server for real-time Q&A regarding submissions and the conference schedule. Join the CSSRC Discord here.
Stay tuned for the full conference schedule, registration link, and calls for reviewers and referees! We very much look forward to your submissions — please don’t hesitate to contact us if any issues or questions arise.
Best regards,
Vivian White, CSGSA VP Academics
on behalf of the CSSRC Organizing Committee (CSGSA & CSSS)
